Mild steel — low carbon steel — is the most commonly used metal in fabrication. It offers good strength, excellent weldability and easy machinability at a low cost, and it can be painted or powder-coated. At Lightyear Industries we cut mild steel sheet with a fiber laser, giving clean, smooth edges that are ready for welding or finishing.

Add CNC Bending to Your Flat Parts
Don't just cut flat sheets — bend them. Our integrated CNC press-brake bending service manufactures 3D brackets, enclosures and frames. Bend-angle accuracy is up to ±0.5°, and our platform automatically detects bend lines from your DXF and simulates the fold in an interactive 3D viewer. Draw bend lines as dashed, straight lines in your DXF so the system can recognise them.
Post-Processing Options
After cutting and bending, parts can be finished with the post-processing options available on the platform: deburring for smooth, safe edges, painting, and powder coating for a durable, uniform finish. Select the option you need when you configure your part on the design and quote page.
Mild Steel vs Stainless Steel vs Aluminum
Mild steel is the most economical choice and is easy to weld and finish. Choose stainless steel when corrosion resistance and a polished finish matter, and aluminum when low weight and conductivity are important. All three are cut on our fiber laser and can be bent on the press brake.
